3 Meals to Increase Muscle Growth

One of the greatest things about being on a restricted diet is having a cheat meal. There’s nothing better than leaving the stress of counting calories and protein behind while you just eat for pleasure at one meal.

Cheat meals are as much about the psychological benefits as they are about the physical. So your choice of cheat meals should mostly be determined by what it is that you have been craving. This will allow you to make it another week or more on a strict meal plan without losing your mind.

With that said, I find that some cheat meals tend to be better than others for promoting fat loss and muscle growth. These meals are high in calories, as all cheat meals should be, but they are also high in sodium and protein, which helps to benefit your physique in the long run. They also are deficient in trans fats, which should never be consumed in large quantities, even at a cheat meal.

1. Pizza
Pizza is a great choice because it is a high in fat, high in protein, and high in sodium. These 3 factors make it very anabolic, which means it will help you to gain muscle mass. The large caloric load will also up-regulate your metabolism, leading to more fat loss when you resume your diet.

2. Mexican
Just as with pizza the high fat, protein, and sodium content of most Mexican food makes it very anabolic. Couple this with the high cholesterol content, which is great for testosterone levels, and you have a cheat meal that will jump start your muscle growth. You also have a great opportunity to get some fiber in as well, in the form of refried or black beans.

3. Sushi
Complex carbs in the form of white rice along with a quality protein source from fresh fish make sushi an ideal cheat meal. Couple this with the healthy fats found in fish like salmon and the high iodine levels in the seaweed and you have a great meal for promoting health and fat loss.

These are just some examples of good cheat meal choices. Remember that first and foremost you want to use cheat meals as a psychological break from strict dieting. With that said, I typically recommend you choose something relatively high in protein. You want to stay away from things like ice cream and other sweets, unless they are combined with a quality source of protein.

Keep in mind that we are just talking about cheat meals here. Just because pizza and Mexican food have some useful nutrients does not mean they have a place in your everyday muscle growth meal plan.
Learn about muscle gain exercises and drug free muscle growth in your FREE report!

Recognising the Menopause five signs of a sheep in wolfs clothing

When the menopause comes, it can be all of these things and more: unsettling, confidence-shaking, depressing, and a cause of upheaval for people around you. Most of this is to do with the feeling that these huge changes are happening to your body changes you can do nothing about. But knowing the five most common symptoms of the menopause, and knowing how to face them means you can deal with its approach pragmatically, and face off this sheep in wolfs clothing.

The first of these are changes in your periods, which may become shorter or longer, lighter or heavier, or generally just more irregular than before. A good way of tracking this is to make a quick note in your diary every day of your period just use a letter to denote what your period was like. Taking an objective view will help you feel like you and not the menopause are in control.

Men and members of family with women going through the menopause often report behaviour that seems way out of character. Fluctuations in your hormones can bring edginess, tears and sudden dips in confidence, and unlike pre-menstrual stress these moods can come and go at any time of the month. It is good to talk to people close to you and it is fair to ask for their understanding. Another method of coping is not to load too much stress on yourself during these mood swings.

Memory loss. Dont worry, youre not going senile but you may find your short term memory functions less well, or that youve forgotten what you came into a room for, or that you cant remember what you were going to say. Aerobic exercise is a natural way of boosting your memory, most of all if the exercise demands complex movement, such as dancing or swimming or racket sports. It is also advisable to eat smaller amounts but more regularly, which helps keep your brain well nourished.

Urinary incontinence when you laugh, cough or exercise (dont worry, there are products for coping with this on the tennis court too) is common, thanks to falling oestrogen levels. Try not to let yourself feel embarrassed by these moments. Doing regular pelvic floor exercises will help to strengthen and tone the urinary sphincter muscles and can be a huge help.

Hot flushes are the result of blood vessels in your skin swelling, which brings large amounts of blood to the surface. Your skin temperature may rise by up to 7 degrees, meaning you may often look as though you have just gone red in the face, but remember this is simply the thermostat in your cranium being swung temporarily off by a reduction in oestrogen levels.

So if and when you find yourself experiencing some of these symptoms, the first step is to get yourself a menopause test. These simple, cheap tests will tell you more about how to cope with the changes in your body, and often come with a range of associated useful tools such as incontinence products and pelvic floor strengthening devices. And dont forget to be candid with your family and friends when it comes to dealing with a sheep in wolfs clothing, talking helps.

Stress No More helps you approach the menopause with confidence with our easy to use menopause test and vaginal tightening exercises.

Why it is Good to Practise Pelvic Floor ExercisesEven For Men

Pelvic floor exercises or Kegel exercises are most commonly associated with women who have recently given birth, but for women who have not even considered childbirth yet the rewards of having a stronger pelvic floor can be felt in many aspects of their lives. Even men can benefit form the practice too, in fact it was a man who invented them in the first place. However, contrary to popular belief it was not Dr Arnold Kegel who first came up with the idea (that was Dr Joshua Davies) but he did invent the Kegel Perineometer, a device to measure the strength and duration of a womans pelvic muscle.

So how can pelvic floor exercises help men? Perhaps the most logical benefit gained by having a stronger pelvic floor is that it can enhance your sex life. For instance, men who once experienced problems with premature ejaculation have experienced far greater control within a month by practising a number of contractions a day, stopping the flow whilst urinating, which you increase gradually as you improve.

If patience is exercised and Kegel exercises are continued for a couple of months, they may not only put an end to premature ejaculation but they can also reduce the risk of incontinence. There is also evidence of achieving multiple orgasms after practising pelvic floor exercises too.

So aside from incontinence after childbirth, why are pelvic floor exercises important for women? Similarly to advantages witnessed by men, pelvic floor exercises can also have a positive effect on the sex life of women. Not only do the pelvic muscles become stronger, leading to better satisfaction for both during intercourse, stronger muscles have more feeling generally due to the fact that there are more nerves in exercised muscles and quicker and bigger orgasms have been reported by many women.

Pelvic floor exercises practised before labour have also been known to make childbirth easier for women. Vitally, it has also proved important for mothers to start to regain the pelvic strength they had pre-birth. It seems that the path back to a healthy sex life after childbirth is easier if a stronger pelvic floor has been maintained beforehand and it has also been proven to lessen the likelihood of developing stress or urge related incontinence.

Stress No More helps strengthen your pelvic floor with our easy to use vaginal tightening exercises and Kegel exercises

Can Exercise Improve Memory and Fend Off Alzheimers?

Nearly everyone knows that exercise is good for us, but who would have thought that it can slow, or even reverse the dreaded Alzheimer’s disease?
According to a study released at the 2008 International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease, patients diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s disease who exercised regularly saw less deterioration in areas of the brain that control memory.

Mild Alzheimer’s disease patients with higher physical fitness had larger brains compared to those with lower physical fitness, according to a study published in the July issue of Neurology.
In the study, 121 people age 60 and older underwent fitness tests using a treadmill as well as brain scans to measure the white matter, gray matter and total volume of their brains.
Of the group, 57 were in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease while the rest of the group did not have dementia.

Study author Jeffrey M. Burns, MD, of the University of Kansas School of Medicine commented, “People with early Alzheimer’s disease who were less physically fit had four times more brain shrinkage when compared to those who were more physically fit.
“This suggests less brain shrinkage related to the Alzheimer’s disease process in those with higher fitness levels.”
“It is noteworthy that the results of this study remained the same regardless of age, gender, and severity of dementia, physical activity and frailty.
“People with early Alzheimer’s disease may be able to preserve their brain function for a longer period of time by exercising regularly and potentially reducing the amount of brain volume lost.
“Evidence shows decreasing brain volume is tied to poorer cognitive performance, so preserving more brain volume may translate into better cognitive performance,” Burns said.
“This is one of the first studies to explore the relationship between Alzheimer’s and exercise (cardio respiratory fitness),” said Burns.

Other studies show that people who walk regularly show significant improvement in memory skills, learning ability, reasoning, and concentration.
Stroke risk was cut by a whopping 57% in people who walked as little as 20 minutes per day.
In the higher energy groups they showed up to 40% less cognitive decline.

Does your “forgetter” outwit your memory? Worried about Alzheimer’s and want to learn how to avoid it? Since a heart surgeon sawed open Gene Millen’s chest in 1990 and stitched in bypasses to six clogged arteries, Gene has devoted his life to coaching others on how to keep their heart and brain in tip-top shape. Millen explains how brain exercise and a brain fitness program can revitalize your memory.
