Google Vision Mobile Phone Concept

The Google Vision concept phone has been conceived by a designer in the UK and looks certain to be around in just a few years time.

The design of this concept comes in the form of a handset style device that slides apart to reveal a retractable flexible screen. The idea is for the device to capture images using its integrated camera, which will then send it to Google automatically, accompanied by the users location, found by the phones GPS. Google will then inform you on the item or its location and tell you about what you are looking at.

This concept has a great design which looks set to be very appealing to many gadget lovers’ eyes. On top of this, the unit is also very useful and would make a perfect holiday companion. Its navigation system can help you find your way through foreign cities and the camera can help tell you more about objects you come across.

An example of this is that you can read reviews about products that you see simply by taking a photo of it, Google will then do the rest of the work by finding all of the information that you need to know, including prices at nearby stores or alternatively on the internet.

The problem with many concept mobile phones is that they get people all excited about what fantastic gadgets are on the horizon and then never actually materialise. Many times they are great concepts but the technology is simply not ready, leaving the design, and the excitement, to fade away. However, this doesn’t appear to be the case with this concept. The GPS, phone connectivity and camera that are to be included already feature heavily in many phones doing the rounds at the moment. The flexible screen is already being developed by a host of big name electrical companies and image recognition has already been integrated into a phone currently on sale in Japan.

Therefore, all, or at least most, of the technology needed to make this concept become a reality is either already here or on its way and with the concept being such a strong design, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be here soon.

The technology that will be the most difficult to incorporate into the phone is the flexible screen and image recognition, and with them already being in development, this shouldn’t be too much of a problem, however, this is high-end technology and may therefore affect the price. Whether this will be alongside cheap mobile phones or more expensive ones remains to be seen, but don’t be surprised if it’s the latter. One of the biggest releases of a mobile phone recently was the iPhone 3G and this is still to come out on pay as you go, meaning that this may be another issue to consider with the Google Vision mobile phone.
