Cambridge is most famous for its university, but is also full of history and is home to some massive high tech companies giving it the nickname �Silicon Fen�.
People have been living in the area of Cambridge since around 1,000 BC and the university has been around since 1209.

The city is great for both business and pleasure with many things to do in this exciting city. Transport isn�t an issue as the streets are all very flat making getting around the city easy and if you have driven there, you can use one of the excellent park and ride services.

Cambridge hosts many festivals throughout the year with one of the biggest being the Midsommer fair which has all the traditional rides you would expect from a fair but with the addition of having a medieval market.
Other popular festivals are the Cambridge folk festival which is perfect for fans of folk music and the Cambridge film festival which is one of the largest film festival in the UK.

Accommodation is abundant in Cambridge with the traditional hotels and bed and breakfasts, but if you fancy travelling out of the city, you can stay in secluded rural farms in the neighbouring countryside.
The fact that Cambridge is a student city means that shopping facilities are excellent. Ranging from large national chains to smaller more unique boutiques, you will be pleasantly surprised. The local arts and crafts market is a great place to find unique gifts.






The university itself is a wonderful attraction to see while visiting the city. It is made up of several colleges with one of the most famous being Kings College. If you are planning to see any of the colleges, it is advisable to research which ones will be of interest to you as some are further apart and take longer to get to.
If you don�t fancy making your own way around the colleges, you can go on a professional tour which will take you round the main ones with guides giving you plenty of knowledge and expertise.

There are plenty of other things to see and do such as visiting the Botanical gardens and seeing Anglesey Abbey, but hopefully the things mentioned in this article will give you plenty to do when you visit Cambridge.
